POSITION          : Change Management Supervisor

REPORTING TO: NOC Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Providing support to ensure the change management process in all operational activities and evaluating the impact of planned operational/Engineering change orders.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure the change management process in all operational activities.
  • Evaluating the impact of planned operational/Engineering change orders.
  • Identifying risks and developing risk mitigation tactics by involving the stake holders. (CAB Initiator)
  • Identifying and managing anticipated resistance to change.
  • Recording all the change orders SWAN tool with appropriate closure comments.
  • Maintaining the distribution list with respective stake holders and communicating them.
  • Collecting relevant KPI data before and after each change order and record any deviations.
  • Defining success metrics and measuring performance against these.
  • Providing reporting and other updates to management and project teams.





Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science/information technology, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least three years’ experience working in network/Technology service management, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge on Telecom fundamentals and IT networks.
  • Experience working on various monitoring tools related to IT systems such as SolarWinds, Centreon, NMS, Incident management tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with team members, also other peer departments.
  • Ability to analyze Incidents, customer complaints and KPIs to understand the route cause and develop a plan to stop reoccurrence.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and ready to work any time whenever necessitates.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

KEY PERFORMANCE AREA

ALIGN BUSINESS STRATEGY

  • Build a clear and coherent strategy for Information Technology Department ensuring alignment with Lonestar Cell MTN corporate strategy and goals and develop plans to support business initiatives and enhance IT support capacity.
  • Translate the Business objectives into low level plans and projects
  • Research into the technological trends and evolution and advise the business of their appropriateness and alignment to business objectives
  • Manage the expectations of internal customers as well as the performance of the external Contractors underpinned by SLA that is in turn aligned to the business expectations.
  • Business Risk Management and mitigation

Implement ICT Strategy

  • Develop and implement ICT strategies and plans
  • Provide clear indications of expected value contributions in line with corporate vision and mission
  • Develop and/or improve upon framework, policies and procedures to guide ICT operations
  • Enable the department to deliver high quality services to customers and attain set goals and objectives of Lonestar Cell MTN.
  • Assess/facilitate the evaluation of office applications and hardware in accordance with defined parameters
  • Acquire, deploy and maintain office applications and hardware to support users and business operations in an effective manner.

Financial Management

  • Propose budget to provide effective ICT services and control and monitor department’s expenditure, in accordance with approved budget and associated rules and procedures
  • Build Business cases and motivate ICT Projects that will ensure a return on investment acceptable to the business
  • Prepare budgets necessary for the realization of the capital projects as well as smooth and efficient operation of the department to achieve the overall goals of the division and the business
  • Ensure all the departmental outsource contracts are operating within budget and deliver value to the business
  • Ensure financial governance framework is adhered to by self, team, partners and vendors
  • Police Revenue Assurance practices and controls to minimize leakages

Network Security & Disaster Recovery

  • Ensure the security and control access to Lonestar Cell MTN business information and data
  • Provide recovery services in the most effective and efficient manner.
  • Promote ICT solutions that enable seamless cross-functional workflow as well as company-wide knowledge sharing and collaboration
  • Monitor and control the technical content of ICT infrastructure and systems to ensure business relevance, scope realism and suitability for intended purposes.
  • Timely encourage controlled infusion of new technology into Lonestar Cell MTN to help maintain competitive edge, operational excellence and improvements to the bottom line.
  • Review and monitor ICT operations and projects and ensure the availability of required resources to deliver and enable the maximization of return on investment on ICT initiatives and services
  • Oversee the development of various Terms of References and Service Level Agreements between Lonestar Cell MTN and ICT service providers and consultants in line with approved ICT framework

 

Leadership

  • Lead and mobilize the team to attain the departmental, business and Group goals
  • Spearhead and support the continuous development/re-engineering of the ICT policies and processes to adapt to the changing business, market and regulatory environment
  • Make professional and informed decisions to enable the business retain leadership in the market
  • Be the fountain through which the team sees the MTN Values and through which the vital behaviours are exhibited

 

Administration & Organizational Support

  • Support and coordinate with other departments for the common business objectives
  • Manage, spearhead and champion special projects and initiatives set up by the company, Regulator and/or MTN Group

 

Staff/Resource, Recruitment, Development & Management

Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor direct reports to ensure staff motivation is high

  • Guide and direct suppliers and third parties in achieving Opco objectives
  • Identify staff training and development needs and implement necessary actions
  • Manage team (including recruitment, on-boarding, etc.)

  • Set up appropriate structure to meet departmental management objectives

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education

  • Bachelors of Science (BSc) Degree in Engineering or Information Technology or Information Systems Management or related discipline.
  • MBA is an added advantage.
  • Relevant certification / accreditation / membership with professional body
  • Fluent in English

Experience

  • 10 years’ experience at a Managerial level in a telecommunication environment/ an information technology or more; with at least 5 years in relevant sector/ industry (understanding emerging markets advantageous)
  • 5+ years of experience in leading an ICT team of at least four (4) personnel
  • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies
  • Experience working in a medium to large organization
